چکیده

We report on analytical and simulat n studies of mi ophy processes that trigger phase transitions in a dusty plasma subject to ion streaming. For res below the critica ure Pc for condensation, the grains acquire a large random kinetic energy and form a we upled fluid. P is increased to greater than Pc, the grains lose their kinetic energy and reach a strongly coupled crystal e state. The ust heating in the fluid phase is due to an ion-dust two-stream instability, which is stabilized at P > Pc by t decreased from the crystalline state to belo ion streaming, which destroys the short ran For Pm < P < Pc mixed phase states can exist

Modulational instability of dust ion acoustic waves in astrophysical dusty plasmas with non thermal electrons

Propagation of dust ion acoustic waves in plasmas composed of nonthermal distributed electrons and stationary dust particles is investigated. Nonlinear Schrdinger equation is derived to describe small amplitude waves, using the reduction perturbation technique. Modulation instability of dust ion acoustic waves is analysed for this system. Parametric investigation indicates that growth rate of...

Effect of an external magnetic field on a critical point for phase separation in a dusty plasma

The effect of an external magnetic field on a critical point for phase transitions in a dusty plasma is investigated. It is shown that the ambient magnetic field increases the effective hard core radius of dust particles, which, in turn, would affect a critical point in terms of the Coulomb coupling parameter and the ratio between the inter-dust grain spacing and the dusty plasma Debye radius. ...

Identifying anomalous diffusion and melting in dusty plasmas.

Anomalous diffusion in liquids and the solid-liquid phase transition (melting) are studied in two-dimensional Yukawa systems. The self-intermediate scattering function (self-ISF), calculated from simulation data, exhibits a temporal decay, or relaxation, with a characteristic relaxation time. This decay is found to be useful for distinguishing normal and anomalous diffusion in a liquid, and for...

Large amplitude dust ion acoustic solitons: considering dust polarity and nonextensive electrons

The characteristics of arbitrary amplitude dust ion acoustic solitary waves (DIASWs) are studied in unmagnetized dusty plasmas whose constituents are cold uid ions, nonextensive electrons and stationary negative/positive dust particles. The pseudopotential approach has been used to investigate the structure of localized waves. It is found that, solitary waves exist in a definite interval for th...

Dusty plasmas: synthesis, structure and dynamics of a dust cloud in a plasma

Plasmas are energetic media that can give birth to dust particles due to the presence of reactive gases or plasma-surface interactions. Industrial plasmas are often concerned by these dust particles that can be either unwanted or useful for the process. For fusion plasmas, production of dust particles from wall erosion is a serious issue for performance and safety reasons. In this article, some...
